The GoPro 4 is expected to shoot 4K and sure enough judging from this rumour it will, at up to 30fps. But perhaps of more use to GoPro users will be higher quality 1080p at 120fps for slow-mo and 720p at 240fps.
There are plenty of cameras out there that will capture 120fps but few do it at 1920 x 1080 resolution and none of those do it at the $3K entry-price of the URSA Mini 4K camera. Sony almost gets us there with the A7s; however, it is limited to 720p resolution at 120 fps. The Panasonic GH4 also gets close with a variable frame rate mode delivering 96fps in 1920 x 1080 resolution.
gopro 4 1080p 120fps camera
I would say that 90% of the GoPro target audience can only use high frame rate footage and so the 1080p at 60fps and 720p at 120fps options have not changed since the original GoPRo Hero 3 (not 3+) which was back in 2012.
Live-streaming is still limited to 1080p and low-light performance leaves plenty to be desired. But with an Enduro battery now included as standard, plus a 5.3K TimeWarp setting, we found the GoPro Hero 11 Black a truly feature-packed action camera. It proved a polished companion in testing, balancing pro tricks with a user-friendly interface, all wrapped up in tough, pocket-friendly packaging.
The 1/2.3-inch sensor is relatively small, but it can still capture reasonable raw stills and 4K footage at up to 30fps. Overexposure is a risk in bright conditions, but colours are generally rich, with sensor-shift stabilization doing something to combat vibrations. In its high-speed setting, the TG-6 can also shoot 1080p video at 120fps, but only for 20 seconds.
HERO4 Black delivers 2x the performance of its best-selling predecessor and now captures cinema-quality 4K video at 30 frames per second (fps), 2.7K video at 50fps and 1080p video at a blistering 120fps, virtually eliminating rolling shutter in most scenarios while allowing for time-bending slow motion effects. HERO4 Black also features an entirely redesigned audio system that captures high fidelity sound with 2x the dynamic range of previous models. Additional enhancements include improved image quality, low light performance, highlight moment tagging and an improved user interface that allows for easier discoverability and access to key features and controls. The HERO4 Black is simply the highest performance GoPro yet.
Talking about video resolution, 1080p is still the dominant but 4K is uprising a lot. GoPro HERO cameras, as the best action cameras, especially GoPro HERO11, HERO10 Black and MAX, are favored by many extreme sports fans. Owing to its small, portable, waterproof features and many other advantages, people often use it to capture crisp 4K/1080p videos in underwater diving, surfing, skiing, cycling, skydiving, etc.
GoPro HERO camera resolution settings can be adjusted according to activities. Shoot in 4K or 1080p with GoPro HERO 10/9/8/7/6/5? Below we list recommended settings for common activities like sunset, cycling, drone, skiing, sport, surfing, underwater, etc.

A frame rate of 240fps these days offers a nice balance of super slow-motion capability without having to sacrifice too much resolution. So which cameras shoot 240fps at a high resolution? These days you can find a range of high-quality cameras that shoot video in 1080p at 240fps.

The Hero4 Black is again, unsurprisingly, top-dog for high definition video recording. In 1080p it can shoot at frame-rates up to 120 fps. That said, all of the other cameras can still shoot Full HD 1080p footage at a more than respectable 60/50 fps.
So it would be crystal clear shooting videos while getting evidences on-site during rescuing.

Hi.Nice review man. Just ordered a gopro hero 9 and I regretted it. I will give it back in order to grab a gopro Max. I aim to use the camera for snowboarding and kitesurfing. I own also a dslr for regular photos. Do you believe that my decision is right,?
The GoPro Hero4 Silver is a high-performance camera with a built-in touch display. It is comparable to the GoPro Hero3 Black edition. The manufacturer of the Hero4 Silver highlights some key features. The camera can record at 1080p at 60 FPS and 720p at 120 FPS HD video. The Hero4 Silver has 4k and 2.7k HD video capture options. The Hero4 can take a quick succession of high-resolution, 12MP photos 30 times per second. The device also features Single Picture and Time Lapse modes. It is capable of recording smooth sound and with external mic options. This GoPro is compatible with a large variety of accessories such as mounting kits, external microphones, recharge packs, and service kits. Waterproof to 40m.
While there are cameras out there with more advanced video specs, the X-S10 is still more than capable for most types of online content. With 4k recording up to 30 fps and a slow-motion recording mode that can shoot 1080p at up to 240 fps, it can shoot more cinematic-looking video as well as slowed-down action footage. It even supports Log recording, although, with 8-bit internal recording, you may just be better off sticking to one of the included film simulation profiles, some of which, like Eterna, are tailored specifically toward video and filmmaking. Overall, this is one of the most versatile APS-C cameras that you can get for the price.
Both the Black and Silver Hero4 cameras have an f/2.4 aperture that should make it a decent performer in low light, and this is paired with a 1/2.3in sensor. In terms of resolutions and frame rates, the Black edition is capable of up to 4K resolution at 30fps, while the Silver edition tops out at 2.7K and 30fps. The Black edition beats the Silver for 1080p performance as well, with 120fps for high frame rate shooting. The Silver edition requires you to drop down to 720p to achieve the same frame rate. Dropping to 720p resolution opens up 240fps for even slower footage on the Black edition.
Image quality at both 4K and 1080p resolutions was very good. Details were excellent and sharp and in good lighting conditions there was minimal noise. The lens also did well to avoid chromatic aberrations. Colour saturation was rather muted for our tastes, however, and we were hoping for more vibrant colours from our test footage captured on a reasonably sunny day. Disappointingly, the Hero4 lacks the image stabilisation of other rivals so footage from our test, which places the camera on a moving platform, was not as steady as we would have liked.
